AAI survey: No domestic Gujarat airport in top 10

Ahmedabad: Gujarat's domestic airports are not among the best airports in the country. In a latest customer satisfaction survey carried out by Airports Authority of India (AAI) across 53 domestic airports in the country operated by the AAI itself, none of the Gujarat airports could make it to the top 10.
The round one of the survey was carried out from January to June this year, that too at domestic airports.International airports including Ahmedabad airport which are run by the AAI had not been included in this survey.
Out of the 53 airports, Vadodara was ranked at 18 followed by Porbandar, Surat, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Rajkot and Bhavnagar. Chandigarh airport was ranked first, while Agatti airport in Lakshadweep was ranked last along with Jabalpur airport.
These airports were rated on 33 indexes by the passengers which included ratings on all facilities, time taken to check-in, food availability, parking, efficiency of staff and infrastructure among others.
Vadodara airport got the highest score of 4.57 out of five points for transportation facility to and from terminal to aircraft, while it was rated lowest at 4.18 in efficiency of check-in staff. Bhavnagar, which has only one scheduled flight in a day, fared worst among all the airports in the state, scoring dismal 4.16 out of five points. Bhavnagar airport got maximum score of 4.42 for 'shopping facilities for value of money'.
In 'business/executive lounges' category, Bhavnagar and Surat airports scored lowest at 3.82 and 4.20 respectively out of five points.
Jamnagar airport secured lowest 3.60 on 'feeling safe and secure' index, indicating lack of comfort for passengers. In the case of Bhuj airport, it scored least in 'restaurants and eating facilities' index with 3.70
